Mrs. Lisamarie SpindlerAt its March 28 meeting, the Warwick Valley Central School District Board of Education appointed Lisamarie Spindler Principal of Warwick Valley Middle School, effective July 1, 2016.

Mrs. Spindler is currently an Associate Principal at Warwick Valley High School, where she has served for more than two years.

“I am truly honored to have been appointed as the new Middle School Principal and I’m excited about my new role,” said Mrs. Spindler. “I strongly believe that parents, community, teachers, staff, and administration all play key roles in helping students reach their fullest potential and I look forward to the collaboration. Working together we can create successful, critical thinkers and productive citizens of the 21st century.”

“I would like to congratulate Mrs. Spindler on her appointment as Middle School Principal,” said Superintendent Dr. David Leach. “I am confident she will make a superb Principal for Warwick Valley Middle School. I would also like to thank the 35 members of the Interview Committee, which included community members, parents, teachers and students, for volunteering their time to help with this process. Their feedback and insight was invaluable.”

From about 70 applicants, administrators screened resumes and narrowed the candidates to 15. Interview Committee members then participated in three rounds of rigorous interviews of the candidates, narrowing the applicant pool further. The Superintendent made his candidate recommendation to the Board of Education, which appointed Mrs. Spinder on March 28.

Prior to joining the Warwick school district, Mrs. Spindler worked in the Monroe-Woodbury Central School District where she served as a 5th- and 6th-grade teacher, and department chair for 6th grade, among other responsibilities. Her experience and credentials include K-12 certifications in Reading, Special Education, and Elementary Education.

“The combination of Mrs. Spindler’s demonstrated leadership in innovative curriculum and scheduling at the high school, and her solid teaching experience with middle school-aged students made her a clear choice for our administration and Board of Education,” said Dr. David Leach.

Currently pursuing a doctorate in Educational Leadership through Manhattanville College, Mrs. Spindler received a Bachelor of Science degree from SUNY Oneonta in Elementary Education with a concentration in English, and a Masters degree in Professional Studies from Manhattanville College in Special Education and Reading. She also earned an Advanced Certificate in Educational Leadership from Long Island University.

Current Middle School Principal Mrs. Cindy Leandro has been appointed as the district’s Director of Human resources, and will begin her new position on July 1.
