Local author Jim DeFelice visits WVHS social studies classes to talk about American Sniper

on May 20, 2015

Last week, some lucky students in William Zwart’s high school social studies classes enjoyed a visit with special guest Jim DeFelice, co-author of American Sniper,
the book on which the hit movie was based.

Mr. DeFelice, a Warwick resident, graciously spent time speaking with the students about the writing process, his experiences writing this book, and about his research on the war in Iraq. The students had an opportunity to ask the author questions on a wide range of topics.

They were interested in how the movie differed from the book, how actor Bradley Cooper was able to vividly capture some of Chris Kyle’s mannerisms, and what Kyle thought of Warwick while he was staying with him during the writing of American Sniper, among other topics.
