Jason Boone Inducted to Warwick Boys Basketball Hall of Fame

On Friday, February 7, 2020, Jason Boone was inducted into the Warwick High School Boys Basketball Hall of Fame.   Jason, a graduate of the WVHS Class of 2003, was a two-year varsity player and starter (2001-03). He played under head coach Gary Vyskocil.  Boone was the captain and leader of the 2001-02 OCIAA Class AA Division II Championship team.  His teams qualified for the Section IX playoffs in both his junior and senior season, where the 2002-03 team advanced to the semi-finals of the Section IX Class AA tournament. Jason was a standout football player and multi-sport athlete for the Wildcats.

Jason holds the following Boy’s Basketball School records: 

Individual season Field Goal Percentage – 70.6%

Career Field Goal Percentage – 70.1%

 

Boone finished his career with 725 points in 45 games making him the school’s 6th all-time leader in career points scored.   Jason received the prestigious WVHS – C. Ashley Morgan Male Athlete of The Year Award during his senior year in 2003. He graduated from New York University (NYU) where he played 4 years of college basketball. He set numerous individual and team records during his 4-year career.

He was selected as a Division III All-American in his senior year.

Jason then went onto have a twelve-year professional basketball career as a player in Europe. He just recently retired after the 2019 season.  He had the opportunity to travel to over 30 countries, live in five, play in top European competitions and win a 2010 European Championship.
