Four members of the Warwick Valley High School track and field team were recently crowned “All-Americans” by medaling at the Nike Indoor Track and Field Nationals March 10-12 at The Armory Track in New York City.

Warwick Valley’s 1600-meter sprint medley relay team, consisting of Erin Smith, Lily Beattie, Hannah Cann, and Julia Singh, placed sixth overall with a time of 4:14.29. Smith and Beattie, both juniors, both ran the 200-meter leg of the race, putting the team in medal contention with times of 27.15 and 26.78, respectively. Cann, also a junior, raced the 400-meter leg of the relay, running close to her season best with a time of 60.82. Singh, a senior, anchored the team’s “All-American” worthy performance, running the 800-meter portion of the relay in 2:19.54.

Beattie returned to the famed Armory Track to compete in the championship section of the pole vault. Her jump of 12 feet, 8.25 inches resulted in a silver medal, tying for second place in the event and making her a “two-time All-American.” This jump also marked a new personal best for Beattie in the pole vault.
