Everything you need to know for WVHS Spirit Week…

Warwick Valley High School is getting ready for Spirit Week, five days of fun and school pride set to begin on Monday, October 4 and continuing through Friday, October 8.

Spirit Week wraps up with a big finish — the homecoming parade, homecoming football game, and homecoming social, all on Saturday, October 9.

The parade will start at noon on Warwick’s Main Street, followed by the game at 1:30 p.m. at the C. Ashley Morgan Field at Warwick Valley High School. The Homecoming Social will take place from 6:30-9:30 p.m. in the high school’s gym.

Parade Schedule

  • 10 a.m. Float Safety meeting and balloons
  • 10:30 a.m. Begin Parade line up
  • 11:30 a.m. Leave bus garage
  • 11:45 a.m. Begin on Hathorn Road (Bus for walkers waiting at lower CVS parking lot for return to football field)
  • 12 p.m. Parade begins
  • 1:30 p.m. Game
  • 2 p.m. Halftime Ceremony
  • 2:15-4 p.m. Clean up at garage

This year’s Homecoming theme is: SEASONS! The classes have been assigned the following:

  • Seniors: Fall
  • Juniors: Summer
  • Sophomores: Winter
  • Freshmen: Spring

This year’s Spirit Week theme days are:

  • Monday, Oct. 4: Red, White and Blue Day
  • Tuesday, Oct. 5: Concert T-Shirt Day
  • Wednesday, Oct. 6: Western Wednesday
  • Thursday, Oct. 7: Dress for Youth Favorite Season Day
  • Friday, Oct. 8: Purple and Gold School Spirit Day (A pep rally will take place during school at the football field.)

Homecoming Court
Three boys and three girls will be chosen as princesses and princes from each class. (The senior class will have two boys and two girls chosen.) The Homecoming King and Queen will be chosen from the Senior Class. Only students who have worked at the bus garage for three nights will be eligible for nomination to the Homecoming Court. Voting will take place at the bus garage on Thursday, October 7. Coronation of the Homecoming Court will take place at the Pep Rally. Members of the Homecoming Court are required to ride in the Homecoming Parade on Saturday morning, participate in half-time activities at the football game, and assist in the clean-up at the bus garage following the half-time announcements. (Marching Band members MUST march with the band in the parade.)

Float Construction
Float construction will take place at the bus garage October 4-8 from 6-9 p.m. Floats will be judges during the parade on Saturday. Students must have this parent permission slip signed in order to work on their float(s.) Permission slips can also be found in the high school office and need to be returned to Ms. Bugasch in Room 168 by September 30. Student Conduct During Float Building

** MASKS ARE TO BE WORN AT ALL TIMES INSIDE THE BUS GARAGE**

Social distance is required among participants. Every class must have its work area cleaned up each night. The area will be checked by the advisors. All school rules are in effect as per the Code of Conduct. Any damage done to the facility by any member of a class is the financial responsibility of the class. All students must have signed permission slips turned in by the deadline. Only those students with signed permission slips will be allowed to work at the bus garage. Students must sign in and out at the bus garage. Students should wear old clothes and bring jackets for cold weather. NO FLIP FLOPS! If a student is not working or creates a disturbance, the student will be asked to leave and may not return on future evenings. Parents will be notified. Students must arrange their own transportation to and from the bus garage. Students must be picked up by 9:00 p.m. or lose attendance privileges.
