Engineering + Art = Impressive

on December 30, 2014

Students enrolled in the new “Stage Craft/Project Design” course at Warwick Valley High School have created a beautiful new sign for their classroom, using engineering principles and artistic skills taught by high school teacher, Rocco Manno.

Stage Craft, introduced in September, is a project-based course in technical production. Some of the skills students are learning are familiarization with planning, illustrating and construction of stage scenery. Students in the course have the opportunity to work in design teams and build collaborative work environments.

The course takes an engineering approach to instructional development through the arts.

The prerequisites for Stage Craft/Project Design are: Foundations in Art or Drawing for Design and Production or Studio Art 1 & 2 or Intro to Engineering – IED/DDP AND 2 elective art credits or with the permission of an administrator.
