School Bus Driver – Route 10
Transportation Department

$23.49 – $26.75 per hour

There is a vacancy for a School Bus Driver with an estimated time of  2 hours and 35 minutes in the morning (6:25AM – 9:00AM) and 2 hours and 55 minutes in the afternoon (1:05PM – 4:00PM).  Total time per day is 5 hours and 30 minutes.  This is a 10-month position, Monday through Friday.

The work involves responsibility for driving a school bus on an assigned route and may require the performance of minor maintenance tasks in connection with such operation.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities include:  good knowledge of driving safety practices and traffic laws and regulations; ability to operate a bus under difficult driving or hazardous road conditions; ability to make minor repairs to the vehicle; general intelligence; ability to establish good relationships with children and others and command their respect; mechanical aptitude; mental alertness; dependability; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

Minimum qualifications at time of appointment are possession of a valid and clean Class B Commercial Driver License with Passenger and School Bus Endorsement (CDL-B w/PS) and that the candidate is at least 21 years of age.

Teacher Aide (Instructional)

$22.29 – $23.96/per hour

There are be vacancies for Teacher Aide (Instructional) in the Warwick Valley Central School District. These positions will be considered 10 months, 3.5 hours per day, Monday through Friday.

Teacher Aides (Instructional) assist the classroom teachers in the performance of their teaching functions by performing those non-teaching duties otherwise performed by such regular teacher or teachers.  Duties are assigned to teacher aides in a manner that enables them to relieve the licensed/certified teacher to attend directly to matters of instruction.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities include: general intelligence; ability to establish good relationships with children and others; familiarity with classroom routine; good background or knowledge in the specific field where specialized duties are involved; resourcefulness in conducting above described activities indirectly related to the teaching process; neat personal appearance; ability to maintain discipline; tact; courtesy; good judgment; and good physical condition.

Minimum qualifications are graduation from high school, successful completion of twelve (12) credits of college course work, and six (6) months of experience working with school-age children.

#49, 59, 60 and 61 Standby Driver (4) with an estimated time 2 hours and 55 minutes in the morning (6:05AM – 9:00AM) and 1 hour and 35 minutes in the afternoon (1:10PM – 2:45PM).  Total time per day is 4 hours and 30 minutes Monday – Friday.

 Effective September 8, 2020 or the date that students return from mandated closure due to Covid-19 pandemic, whichever date is later, there are 2 vacancies for Standby School Monitor/Attendant in the Warwick Valley Central School District Transportation Department with an estimated time of  2 hours in the morning (6:55AM – 8:55AM) and 2 hours in the afternoon (2:00PM – 4:00PM).  Total time per day is 4 hours.  These are 10-month positions, Monday through Friday.

The monitor/attendant will be responsible for supervision of students and maintaining order and discipline of all students while on school property. The monitor/attendant may also perform miscellaneous clerical tasks.

SUBSTITUTE CUSTODIAL WORKER
$15.50/Hour

The Warwick Valley Central School District is currently looking for substitute custodial workers.  A substitute custodial worker works on an as-needed basis, but is used frequently to fill in when necessary at one of our five schools.

The work involves efficient performance of building cleaning which includes dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, garbage removal and occasional minor maintenance tasks as needed. Work is performed under direct supervision or according to specific instruction.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities include: working knowledge of cleaning practices, supplies and equipment; ability to understand and follow oral and written communications; dependability; courtesy; good judgment; and physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position. 

Cleaning experience is preferred, but we will train the right individuals.  This position may lead into a permanent part-time or full-time position in the future.
