COURIER

$20.64 – $23.97 per hour

Effective immediately, there is a position for a Courier in the Warwick Valley Central School District.  This is a 12-month position, 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday.

Typical Work Activities:  Picks up goods or supplies at assigned posts within the district and delivers to assigned posts; picks up and delivers food and non-food items from preparation kitchens and delivers to satellite schools or for the Senior Dining Program; will be responsible for filling vending machines, accepting deliveries and keeping an inventory of stock rooms; performs miscellaneous errands as directed such as making daily bank deposits; delivers all incoming mail to the main office and assists in sorting it; distributes mail and inter-office correspondence to and from the various offices within the municipality or school district; transports mail to and from the Post Office including boxes and other heavy materials; may deliver daily attendance sheets to appropriate authorities; may participate in building cleaning tasks on an as needed basis.

Full performance knowledge, skills, abilities and personal characteristics:  Good knowledge of driving safety practices and traffic laws and regulations; working knowledge of postal terminology and procedures; ability to read and write; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; dependability; courtesy; physical condition, strength and stamina commensurate with the demands of the position; packages range between 30 – 50 pounds.  Must have food service experience.  Delivery experience preferred.  All work subject to change by supervisors.

Minimum qualifications:  Possession of a valid driver’s license in a class appropriate to the requirements of the appointing authority.

ASSISTANT COOK

23.26 per hour

Effective August 24, 2020, there is a vacancy for an Assistant Cook in the Warwick Valley Central School District.  This is a 10-month position for 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday.

In addition to preparing and serving food, responsibilities include assisting in the preparation of meals.  In the absence of the Assistant School Lunch Manager, the Assistant Cook is responsible for all food preparation activities.

Pizza making experience preferred.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities include:  working knowledge of the large scale food preparation and cooking methods, working knowledge of food values and nutrition, ability to keep records and make reports, ability to understand and follow oral and written directions, reliability, physical strength and stamina, good physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

Automotive Mechanic (Mechanic I)

Transportation Department

$54,449 – $63,619 (pro-rated)

 Effective immediately, there is an opening for an Automotive Mechanic (Mechanic I) in the Transportation Department.  This is a 12-month, Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day position.

This is skilled work involving responsibility for efficient and workmanlike performance of a variety of automotive repair tasks.  Instructions are received regarding the tasks to be performed.  Does related work as required.  Typical work activities include, but are not limited to, general repairs on diesel and gasoline motor equipment such as trucks, buses, tractors, snow plows, pumps and generators; repair ignition and electrical systems; operates machine shop equipment including lathes, drill presses and other metal working machines to make and repair parts for automotive equipment; assembles and times engines; repairs or overhauls brakes systems, differentials, transmissions and front and rear axles; may operate electric or acetylene welding and cutting equipment; operates various types of motor equipment in connection with repair work.  May be required to operate a bus, mobile unit, snow plows or other motor driven equipment.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities include:  good knowledge of standard automotive repair methods and/or the terminology, tools and safety precautions of the trade; demonstrated ability to make repairs to automotive equipment; ability to work from plans and specifications; ability to understand written and oral directions; hand/eye coordination; manual dexterity; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

Minimum qualifications at time of appointment are Two (2) years of experience involving automotive repair or automotive maintenance.  Special Requirement:  May be required to possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License in a class appropriate to the requirements of the Appointing Authority.

There is an anticipated vacancy for a Custodial Worker at the Middle School in the Warwick Valley Central School District.  This is a full-time, 12-month position for eight (8) hours per day, 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM Monday through Friday; 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM – School Breaks and Summer.

The work involves efficient performance of building cleaning and occasional minor maintenance tasks.  Work is performed under direct supervision or according to specific instruction.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities include: working knowledge of cleaning practices, supplies and equipment; ability to understand and follow oral and written communications; dependability; courtesy; good judgment; and physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.  

Candidate must have good cleaning practices, display excellent attendance and the ability to work well with others is required.  All work subject to change by supervisors.

This is a replacement position. Prior custodial/cleaning experience required

SENIOR GROUNDSKEEPER

$58,148 – $64,969

There is an anticipated vacancy for a Senior Groundskeeper in the Warwick Valley Central School District.  This is a full-time, 12 month position for eight (8) hours per day Monday through Friday.

DUTIES (included but are not limited to):

  1. Supervises and participates in grounds maintenance activities:  cutting grass, clearing brush, repairing parking areas, pool maintenance, painting and leveling athletic fields for events, clearing snow from walks, driveways and parking areas;
  2. Prepares and builds new facilities such as athletic fields, courts, playgrounds and parking areas;
  3. Requisitions, stores and inventories supplies and tools used in groundskeeping work;
  4. Instructs subordinate personnel in the use and maintenance of tools, vehicles, equipment and materials and in safety procedures;
  5. Maintains employee records and prepares activity records;
  6. May operate various types of light motor equipment in the performance of regular duties; 
  7. MUST POSSESS A CLASS B CDL LICENSE;
  8. Individual is expected to be available during winter months during evening, nights and weekends to perform snow removal duties.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Good knowledge of the practices, tools, equipment, materials and terminology of grounds maintenance activities.  Experience in small motor repair, ability to move furniture/equipment between buildings, ability to understand and follow oral and written communications; ability to plan and supervise the work of others; ability to prepare routine records and reports; willingness to perform routine manual work; dependability; good attendance record, courtesy; good judgment; and good physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
