Automotive Mechanic (Mechanic I)
Transportation Department
$56,649 – $66,190 (prorated)

 There is an opening for an Automotive Mechanic (Mechanic I) in the Transportation Department.  This is a 12-month, Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day position.

This is skilled work involving responsibility for efficient and workmanlike performance of a variety of automotive repair tasks.  Instructions are received regarding the tasks to be performed.  Does related work as required.  Typical work activities include, but are not limited to, general repairs on diesel and gasoline motor equipment such as trucks, buses, tractors, snow plows, pumps and generators; repair ignition and electrical systems; operates machine shop equipment including lathes, drill presses and other metal working machines to make and repair parts for automotive equipment; assembles and times engines; repairs or overhauls brakes systems, differentials, transmissions and front and rear axles; may operate electric or acetylene welding and cutting equipment; operates various types of motor equipment in connection with repair work.  May be required to operate a bus, mobile unit, snow plows or other motor driven equipment.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities include:  good knowledge of standard automotive repair methods and/or the terminology, tools and safety precautions of the trade; demonstrated ability to make repairs to automotive equipment; ability to work from plans and specifications; ability to understand written and oral directions; hand/eye coordination; manual dexterity; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

Minimum qualifications at time of appointment are Two (2) years of experience involving automotive repair or automotive maintenance.  Special Requirement:  May be required to possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License in a class appropriate to the requirements of the Appointing Authority.

Summer School Food Service Helper – 2
$18.20 – $19.02 per hour

There are two vacancies for Food Service Helper in the Warwick Valley Central School District. These are positions for summer school for 3 hours per day, Monday through Friday from July 5th through August 12, 2022.

In addition to preparing and serving food, responsibilities also include acting as cashier and dishwasher, cleaning of kitchen equipment and performing related work as required.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities include: working knowledge of the proper methods of serving food and of the care of tableware and kitchen equipment; working knowledge of modern cleaning methods and use of cleaning supplies and appliances; ability to follow oral and written directions; physical strength and stamina; good physical condition.

SUBSTITUTE SCHOOL BUS DRIVER
$19.00/Hour

The Warwick Valley Central School District is currently looking for substitute school bus drivers.  A substitute school bus driver works on an as-needed basis, but is used frequently to fill in when necessary on an assigned route.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities include:  good knowledge of driving safety practices and traffic laws and regulations; ability to operate a bus under difficult driving or hazardous road conditions; general intelligence; ability to establish good relationships with children and others and command their respect; mechanical aptitude; mental alertness; dependability; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

Minimum qualifications at time of appointment are possession of a valid and clean Class B Commercial Driver License with Passenger and School Bus Endorsement (CDL-B w/PS) and that the candidate is at least 21 years of age.

This position may lead into a permanent part-time position in the future.
