School Monitor/Attendants
Warwick Valley Central School – Transportation Department
$18.20 – $19.85 per hour

Effective immediately, there are vacancies for School Monitor/Attendant in the Warwick Valley Central School District Transportation Department as follows:

Rt #14   – with an estimated time of 2 hours and 25 minutes in the morning (6:35AM – 9:00AM) and 2 hours and 10 minutes in the afternoon (2:05PM – 4:15PM).  Total time per day is 4 hours and 35 minutes.

Rt #67 – with an estimated time of 2 hours and 35 minutes in the morning (6:25AM – 9:00AM) and 2 hours and 30 minutes in the afternoon (2:00PM – 4:30PM).  Total time per day is 5 hours and 5 minutes.

These are 10-month positions, Monday through Friday.

The monitor/attendant will be responsible for supervision of students and maintaining order and discipline of all students while on school property. The monitor/attendant may also perform miscellaneous clerical tasks.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities include: general intelligence; good knowledge of school policies and procedures; good interpersonal skills with children and the general public; ability to understand and follow oral and written communications; ability to communicate effectively; ability to control adverse situations; dependability; good powers of observation; resourcefulness; tact; courtesy; good judgment; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

Teacher Aide (Instructional)
$22.74 – $24.44/per hour

There are vacancies for Teacher Aide (Instructional) in the Warwick Valley Central School District. These positions will be considered 10 months, 3.5 hours per day, Monday through Friday.

Teacher Aides (Instructional) assist the classroom teachers in the performance of their teaching functions by performing those non-teaching duties otherwise performed by such regular teacher or teachers.  Duties are assigned to teacher aides in a manner that enables them to relieve the licensed/certified teacher to attend directly to matters of instruction.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities include: general intelligence; ability to establish good relationships with children and others; familiarity with classroom routine; good background or knowledge in the specific field where specialized duties are involved; resourcefulness in conducting above described activities indirectly related to the teaching process; neat personal appearance; ability to maintain discipline; tact; courtesy; good judgment; and good physical condition.

Minimum qualifications are graduation from high school, successful completion of twelve (12) credits of college course work, and six (6) months of experience working with school-age children.

School Bus Drivers
Transportation Department
$23.96 – $27.29 per hour

There are 5 vacancies for School Bus Drivers, 10-month, Monday – Friday positions. The routes are as follows.

Rte. #5 with an estimated time of 2 hours and 40 minutes in the morning (6:25AM – 9:05AM) and 2 hours and 15 minutes in the afternoon (2:00PM – 4:15PM). Total time per day is 4 hours and 55 minutes.

Rte. #11 with an estimated time of 2 hours and 35 minutes in the morning (6:30AM – 9:05AM) and 3 hours and 5 minutes in the afternoon (1:45PM – 4:50PM). Total time per day is 5 hours and 40 minutes.

Rte. #13 with an estimated time of 2 hours and 40 minutes in the morning (6:25AM – 9:05AM) and 2 hours and 40 minutes in the afternoon (2:00PM – 4:40PM). Total time per day is 5 hours and 20 minutes.

Rte. #17 with an estimated time of 2 hours and 20 minutes in the morning (6:45AM – 9:05AM) and 2 hours and 10 minutes in the afternoon (2:00PM – 4:10PM). Total time per day is 4 hours and 30 minutes.

Rte. #45 with an estimated time of 2 hours and 35 minutes in the morning (6:00AM – 8:35AM) and 2 hours in the afternoon (2:00PM – 4:00PM). Total time per day is 4 hours and 35 minutes.

The work involves responsibility for driving a school bus on an assigned route and may require the performance of minor maintenance tasks in connection with such operation.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities include: good knowledge of driving safety practices and traffic laws and regulations; ability to operate a bus under difficult driving or hazardous road conditions; ability to make minor repairs to the vehicle; general intelligence; ability to establish good relationships with children and others and command their respect; mechanical aptitude; mental alertness; dependability; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

Minimum qualifications at time of appointment are possession of a valid and clean Class B Commercial Driver License with Passenger and School Bus Endorsement (CDL-B w/PS) and that the candidate is at least 21 years of age.
