COVID Update: 1.28.2021

January 28, 2021

The New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) has requested community outreach assistance to share the latest COVID-19 information, particularly the roll out of vaccines. To that end, we are sharing the following link from the Orange County COVID-19 Vaccination Information website, followed by further explanation from the NYSDOH.

Orange County COVID-19 Vaccination Information.

This link will allow eligible residents who live or work in Orange County to sign up to receive information regarding the COVID-19 vaccine. This will help all of our residents to equitably receive updates on the vaccine distribution as it is made available to the Orange County Health Department. This link also provides access to resources for checking your eligibility for the vaccine, as well as a continuously updated list of vaccination centers with available appointments.

For residents who do not have access to a computer and require assistance, please call the Orange County Office for the Aging at (845) 615-3700.

Please note: to underscore the scarcity of vaccine among providers in our area, according to NYSDOH, as of January 25, there were 148 “enrolled” COVID-19 vaccine providers locally, of them only 10 are “approved” by the New York State Department of Health (thus far). Of those ten, only five are currently receiving vaccine allocations and are administering vaccines on a weekly basis.

We understand these are very confusing times and there is a lot of conflicting information circulating. If we can collectively work together to have residents sign up in this same alert system in Orange County, it will hopefully clear up some of the confusion, and avoid delaying the much needed, timely vaccination for our eligible community members. Please share this link and information with anyone that your department serves.
