Covid-19 Update 3.8.2021

March 8, 2021

Dear WVCSD Community,

The following overview will provide you with a summary of COVID-19 positive cases, which have occurred since our last communication:

Park Avenue Elementary School:  Park Avenue had one positive case.  The staff member who tested positive was in attendance during his/her infectious period, which resulted in the quarantining of two staff members and 18 students.

Sanfordville Elementary School:  Sanfordville Elementary School had no positive cases.

Middle School:  The Middle School had three positive cases. In sum, these cases resulted in the quarantining of 5 staff members and 18 students.

High School:  The High School had one positive case. This case resulted in the approximate quarantining of 4 staff members and 29 students.

Pine Island Elementary School:  Pine Island Elementary School had two positive cases. In sum, these cases resulted in the quarantining of approximately 8 staff members and 23 students.   Other:  An employee who is assigned to multiple buildings and outdoor areas tested positive.  No quarantining was necessary in this case as students and staff were not in proximity to the employee during his/her infectious period.

All families impacted by the above were notified.

We continue to update our COVID-19 Dashboard/Report Card daily – New York State’s COVID Report Card. The New York State Education Department (NYSED) considers Pine Island ES as a Sanfordville satellite school. Therefore, the NYSED requires the District to add Pine Island School’s COVID-19 cases to the Sanfordville Elementary report.

Please continue to take the everyday precautions needed to prevent the spread of COVID-19, like washing your hands, wearing a mask, and avoiding close contact with others. Thank you for your continued support!

Sincerely,

David Leach

Superintendent of Schools
