COVID-19 Update 3.24.2021

March 24, 2021

Dear WVCSD Community,

Today, families and staff notified us of (4) four positive cases districtwide. The administration is making phone calls to advise anyone determined to be in close contact with an infected individual and providing information about quarantine guidelines.

The following overview provides you with a summary of COVID-19 positive cases, which have occurred since our communication, March 22, 2021:

Pine Island Elementary School: No new cases

Sanfordville Elementary School: No new cases

Park Avenue Elementary School: (1) One employee in attendance during his/her infectious period. The District notified the students/families required to quarantine.

Warwick Valley Middle School: (1) One positive student case; however, the student was not in attendance during his/her infectious period.

Warwick Valley High School: (1) One student in attendance during his/her infectious period. The District notified the students/families required to quarantine.

Other: (1) One employee not assigned to a school building tested positive for COVID-19. The District notified the students/families required to quarantine.

The District continues to update our COVID-19 Dashboard/Report Card daily – New York State’s COVID Report Card

These recent cases remind us that the pandemic is still with us, and we must continue the mitigating strategies that reduce the spread of COVID-19. These behaviors — physical distancing, wearing face coverings, and washing or sanitizing hands — are essential at school and home.

Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,
David Leach
Superintendent of Schools
