COVID-19 UPDATE 10.30.2020

October 30, 2020

Dear Warwick Valley Schools families, staff, and students,

To follow up on our correspondence from last night, the district was notified today by the Orange County Department of Health (OCDOH) that there is another Sanfordville Elementary School student who has tested positive for COVID-19. There are now two cases at Sanfordville and one at Warwick Valley Middle School.

The district has at this point reached out to all direct and proximate contacts who have been instructed to quarantine. These contacts include students and staff in the classrooms as well as other potential exposure areas, such as the buses.

Sanfordville and the Middle School will continue to operate in a full remote capacity on Monday, November 2 and Tuesday, November 3. We will be back in touch no later than Tuesday, November 3, if it is determined that we need to continue to suspend in-person instruction.

The Dorothy C. Wilson Education Center will be open on Tuesday, November 3rd, for Election Day.

Due to medical confidentiality laws and out of respect for the families’ privacy, we are not able to release the names of the infected students. We assure you that we will keep everyone informed with any new, pertinent information we are permitted to share. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the Orange County Department of Health at (845) 291-2330.

Sincerely,

Johnna Maraia
Principal, Sanfordville Elementary School

Georgianna Diopoulos
Principal, Warwick Valley Middle School

Dr. David Leach
Superintendent of Schools
