December 14, 2022

The District’s primary concern is always the welfare and safety of our students.

During the winter months, the likelihood of an early dismissal is much higher because of inclement weather. We continue to monitor the weather forecast for tomorrow, Thursday, December 15.

The District uses several reputable weather forecasting outlets to track anticipated weather conditions. We also consult and rely on the sound professional judgment of our own Transportation Department and the local Highway Department when assessing current and potentially hazardous road conditions.

When schools are dismissed early due to inclement weather, the District will notify parents and caregivers in several ways. There will be an alert on the homepage of our website, a post on our Facebook page, an email and phone message. We always aim to provide as much notice as possible.

Be sure to have a plan for your children in the event of early dismissal and review it with them. School staff may not be available to supervise students at school if there is no alternate home plan in place.

Some of these decisions are difficult to make, and we realize the inconvenience such decisions can cause families. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we continue to prioritize the safety of our students.
