Community Letter: Transportation Letter 3.31.2021

March 31, 2021

Dear WVCSD Community,

The District is making adjustments to the middle school/high school bus schedules to accommodate additional students while maximizing social distancing and reducing occupancy on each bus. We have added new routes and made adjustments to others to ensure that school buses have significantly fewer riders than the maximum capacity, ranging from 30% to 60% below capacity. In making these route adjustments, we’ve been sensitive to family schedules as we understand there are established routines for this school year.

Please check the Parent Portal to view the updated bus information for your student.

Face masks will continue to be worn by all riders and drivers. We will disinfect buses after every run. School buses will operate at reduced occupancy, allowing us to maximize physical distancing. Bus roof hatches and windows will be open at all times when weather permits. Open roof hatches and windows will allow fresh outside air to circulate throughout the bus.

The District continues to encourage parents to drop off and pick up their students, if possible. Carpooling is also encouraged to reduce the traffic flow into the school parking lot. Along with the number of student drivers and students learning remotely, these factors significantly reduce overall bus ridership.

Please continue to have a wonderful spring recess, and we look forward to seeing our students again on Tuesday, April 6.

Sincerely,
Laura Chaluisan
Transportation Supervisor
