Class of 2019 Commencement Ceremony information available online

2019 capDear Parents/Guardians and students of the Class of 2019:

This year’s commencement ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, June 29, 2019, at 10 a.m. at the C. Ashley Morgan Football Field on the grounds of Warwick Valley High School.

Only those seniors who have successfully completed all graduation requirements will be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony.

Seniors must return all their textbooks and/or have fines paid by Friday, June 21, 2019.

Students with any outstanding textbooks or fines jeopardize their participation in the graduation ceremony.

The graduation rehearsal and graduation day agenda is enclosed and will be distributed to all seniors. Any questions concerning the agenda should be directed to Senior Class Advisors, Mrs. Gaytan Castro at: lgaytancastro@wvcsd.org or Mr. Jacobsen: jjacobsen@wvcsd.org.

COMPULSORY REHEARSAL:
● All seniors are required to attend the MANDATORY REHEARSAL on
Friday, June 28, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. to review commencement procedures.
If there are extenuating circumstances, you must notify Dr. Washington by June 21st.
● The cap and gown package will be distributed to seniors at rehearsal.
● Inside your cap and gown package there will be five tickets:
*Three tickets for the gymnasium if graduation is moved indoors due to weather.
*Two additional tickets will be given for the auditorium live remote broadcast.
Unfortunately, there are no additional tickets for the indoor ceremony, as space is limited.
● At rehearsal, we will go over the outdoor and indoor graduation procedures.

DRESS AND BEHAVIOR GUIDELINES:

Our commencement ceremony is a solemn, dignified event that recognizes significant student achievement and accomplishment. We respectfully ask for your cooperation and understanding in reinforcing the following participation guidelines with your son/daughter:
● Girls are to wear a dress/dress pants as part of the cap and gown attire.
Boys are expected to wear slacks, shirt, and tie.
● Appropriate, dignified behavior is expected of all students. Behavior that disrupts the
ceremony will not be tolerated, and any students involved in inappropriate behavior will
jeopardize receiving their diploma.
● Every graduate will have their photo taken by Island Photography – www.islandphoto.com.
These photographs may be ordered and purchased online, approximately three weeks after
graduation. The photographer will contact you via email.
● Please be considerate of others and do not stand or block others’ views to take photos.

GRADUATION:

Graduation is on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 10 a.m.

All Seniors are expected to be properly dressed and in their assigned classroom by 8:45 a.m.
Final check in will be at 9:00 a.m.

For the elderly and disabled; the high school auditorium is open to view the ceremony which will be broadcast live on the big screen.

Seniors are reminded to pick up their DIPLOMA after the ceremony, in the front lobby of the
high school.

The administration, faculty, and staff members share your joy in this educational milestone with the goal to provide our students, families, and community members with a memorable and dignified graduation ceremony. Friday, June 28, 2019  Graduation Rehearsal

11 – 11:15  a.m. 

Students report to rooms 103 to 129. 

Last names will be posted outside each of these rooms. 

Beginning of the alphabet by last name, starts at room 103 and continues to room 129.

Room leader will take attendance. 

 

11:15 – 11:30 a.m.     

 Attendance will be collected by an administrator. 

Students will receive their cap and gown package at this time.

Students will be asked to enter the hallway to begin the lineup. 

Stand at the locker with your name card on it.  

Any student who owes textbook money should report to the HSO to clear his or her account.

 

11:30 – 11:40 a.m.       Student procession to the new gym.

11:40 – 12 p.m.             Indoor graduation walk-through.

12:00 – 12:10   p.m.     Student procession to the football field.

12:15 – 12:45 p.m.       Outdoor graduation walk-through.

 

Saturday, June 29, 2019  Graduation

8:45 – 9 a.m.     

Students report to the high school.

Go directly to your assigned room (Rooms 103-129).

 

9 – 9:15   a.m.

Students dress in cap and gown. Room leaders will take attendance. It is important that we know who is not here. We will make phone calls home to those whom are not checked in.

 

9:15 – 9:30 a.m.  

Administration will visit your room for a quick photo and check to see you are dressed appropriately for graduation. If you are not dressed appropriately, you risk not participating in the graduation ceremony.

 

9:30 – 9:45  a.m.  Students will be called to line up in hallway.

9:45 – 9:59  a.m.   Student procession to football field.

10 a.m.  Commencement begins.

 

At the end of Commencement, report to the main lobby to pick up your diploma.
