Budget Vote and Election Change

June 8, 2020

Today, June 8, 2020, Governor Cuomo issued Executive Order 202.39 (see link below), which modified the date that votes will be canvassed, when absentee ballots will be accepted through, and the manner in which ballots will be accepted.

The new date to canvass ballots is now June 16th, beginning after 5:00 p.m. No ballots may be opened before 5:00 p.m. on June 16th.

In-person drop off of ballots is only permitted up until 5:00 p.m. on June 9th.

After 5:00 p.m. on June 9th, ballots may not be accepted if personally delivered, they must be mailed to the district and received by June 16th at 5:00pm..

Absentee ballots may be mailed to the district and if received by June 16th, shall be counted. So long as the district receives the ballot back in the mail on or before June 16th, it will be counted.

Ballots will not be issued to voters after 5:00 p.m. on June 9th.  Even though the date for the canvass has been changed, the Election Date is still June 9th, and thus, ballots are not to be issued to voters beyond June 9th at 5:00 p.m.
