Board Petitions & Qualifications
Interested in running for a seat on the Board of Education?
Petitions to run for three available positions on the Warwick Valley Central School District Board of Education will be available on Monday, March 3, 2025 in the District Office, 225 West Street Extension between the hours of 8 am – 4 pm. The nominating petitions must include signatures of 26 qualified voters who reside in the district (district resident, US citizen, 18 and older) and returned to the District Clerk by 5 pm Monday, April 21, 2025.
The three Board members whose terms are due to expire this year are Daniel Mahoney, Thomas Maslanka and Keith Parsons. The Board meets the first and third Thursday of each month.
ELIGIBILITY FOR ELECTION TO THE BOARD
Each candidate or member of the Board of Education shall:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be able to read and write English
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Be a qualified voter of the district
- Be a resident of the school district for at least one year prior to the election
- NOT be an employee of the school district
- NOT hold office if a member of his/her family is a member of the Board.
- NOT simultaneously hold another incompatible office (e.g., town supervisor)
- NOT have been removed from a school district office within one year of election.

Absentee Ballot Application
If you plan to cast your vote on this year’s budget by absentee ballot, you must request your ballot by using the latest NYS Board of Elections absentee ballot application. This application can be downloaded here to print, fill out and return. The downloadable document includes important eligibility requirements, instructions on returning your ballot, deadlines, and information specifically for military voters.
Note: This application may only be used for school district elections by qualified voters who reside in a school district that provides for personal registration of voters. If the application requests the absentee ballot be mailed, the application must be received by the district clerk not later than 7 days before the election for which the absentee ballot is sought. Otherwise, the application may be personally delivered to the district clerk not later than the day before the election. Applications may not be submitted more than 30 days prior to the election. If you are qualified for absentee voting and issued an absentee ballot, the ballot itself must be received by the school district clerk by 5 p.m. on the day of the election in order to be canvassed.
Early Mail Ballot Application
(for School District Elections, Budget Votes and Referenda)
This application may be downloaded here used for any school election at which early vote by mail is authorized by law. If the application requests the early mail ballot to be mailed, the application must be received by the district clerk not later than 7 days before the election for which the early mail ballot is sought. Otherwise, the application may be personally delivered to the district clerk not later than the day before the election. Applications may not be submitted more than 30 days prior to the election. If you are qualified for early mail voting and issued an early mail ballot, he ballot itself must be received by the school district clerk by 5 p.m. on the day of the election in order to be canvassed.
