on March 27, 2017

Sanfordville students were recently treated to a presentation by award-winning author Daniel Kirk, in celebration of the success of the month-long “One School, One Book” program.

Author Daniel Kirk speaks to SES students

Mr. Kirk has written and illustrated more than 40 books for children, including his best-selling series of Library Mouse books, Ten Things I Love About You, Ten Thank You Letters, and the middle grade series Elf Realm.

Mr. Kirk shared his new non-fiction book “Rhino in the House” and his latest adventure of “Library Mouse”. He spoke with the students about some of his writing strategies and how he generates ideas for illustratios.

K-2 students loved listening to Mr. Kirk read about Sam the Library Mouse, while third-, fourth- and fifth-graders followed along as Mr. Kirk shared his journeys to Kenya through pictures and stories. Students were intrigued by his first-hand information, learned through guides and experiences during his African visit.

Many thanks to the Sanfordville PTA for making this wonderful author visit possible.
