“Apple of My Eye” Contest Recognizes Three Exceptional WVCSD Teachers

on January 3, 2015

With the goal of celebrating the contributions that outstanding teachers make to our schools, students and communities, the Warwick Foundation for Excellence in Learning (WFEL) and Noble Pies partnered to present the “Apple of My Eye” contest. Based on nominations from parents and students, three teachers were the first winners of the contest: Robert Kirschke, Lisa Ramus and Lenora Shoock. Each winner was awarded an apple pie which was donated by Noble Pies, Route 94 in Warwick.

The winning teachers were each praised for their extraordinary dedication to students and for their ability to present concepts and material in creative and interesting ways. Mr. Kirschke has taught in Warwick for 17 years and currently teaches PIE 4/5 at Sanfordville Elementary School. Mrs. Ramus, who has been a Warwick Valley teacher for 26 years, is a second grade teacher at Park Avenue Elementary. Mrs. Shoock, a fifth grade teacher at Warwick Valley Middle School, has been with the district for 16 years.

WFEL and Noble Pies plan to run the Apple of My Eye contest again this spring.
