CONSUMER SCIENCE

CONSUMER SCIENCE

Warwick Valley offers classes in Consumer Science that give students the opportunity to learn fun and interesting life skills that will prepare them for their post-high school lives in the 21st century. The courses are designed to help them become ethical and global citizens, resilient individuals, problem solvers, collaborators, and to develop other core traits of the District’s Portrait of a Graduate. Courses in Consumer Science provide students with basic skills necessary to navigate today’s ever-evolving world, and enjoy the lifelong benefits that come with being a responsible individual, family member, and contributor to society. The District’s course offerings in Consumer Science are aligned with the New York State Health, Physical Education, and Family and Consumer Science Learning Standards, in order to provide students with knowledge and skills they can apply to foster physical wellness, safe and healthy environments, and how best to manage personal and community resources. Consumer Science supports students in becoming competent and compassionate adults who understand the often complex circumstances of professional and personal responsibilities and equips them to successfully balance the relationship between both.
