Sanfordville school community begins “One School, One Book” program

SES students participating in a PARP play.On Tues., Feb. 23, Sanfordville students attended the kickoff assembly for the “One School, One Book” program which will have the entire Sanfordville community – students, teachers, staff, parents and siblings – reading the same book at the same time.

The kickoff assembly got students intrigued and excited about “The Enormous Egg” by Oliver Butterworth, as a group of their peers presented a play about the first chapter of the book.

Thanks to generous gifts from the Sanfordville PTA and Warwick Foundation for Excellence in Learning (WFEL), every student received a copy of “The Enormous Egg” to read at home with their families.

SES students participating in a PARP play. Parents are asked to make time in their busy days over the next four weeks to read to, or with, their children – a chapter a night for about 15 minutes. (Parents, please try to keep up with the reading schedule, so your child can fully participate in all activities. But don’t read ahead because of special trivia questions and projects in school the next day.)

The “One School, One Book” program provides a great opportunity for everyone to participate, discuss what they are reading, and listen to different perspectives about the story.

Towards the end of the program, students will attend the assembly “Dinosaur Rocks”’ sponsored by the PTA.

Thank you so much for supporting and participating in this school wide program.
