Students learn about Egypt by making mummies

Picture of students around a wooden pyramid full of mummified chickens.Mr. Slutsky’s Social Studies classes mummified chickens for a project that will lead into the study of ancient Egypt.  Over a number of weeks, the classes went through the process of mummifying the chickens and using clay to create a sarcophagus for each one.

The students also wrote stories about their brave chickens, which have also been placed in the pyramid. The tomb (pyramid), located in the Delta courtyard, will be opened when the students are seniors in high school.IMG_0445
