2016-17 Warwick Wildcat Boys Basketball Senior Recognition Night

Senior varsity basketball players were recently honored at Senior Recognition Night along with their families, who have given their time, effort and talent to our Boy’s Basketball Program.

“This special evening provides a moment to acknowledge the outstanding effort that they have put forth through out their career. Their positive attitude, competitiveness, determination, sportsmanship, and hard work are truly worthy of our recognition and praise. On behalf of the Warwick Valley High School basketball program we would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our seniors and their families.”  -Coach Folino

YU CHEN #12

Yu has been a member of the boy’s basketball program for three years.  He is a first-year varsity player and has been a key contributor on this year’s team. Yu brings passion and energy to our team on a daily basis.  He is a very intelligent basketball player who has worked extremely hard to become varsity level, and has been a great teammate. He maintains an 85 grade-point-average in the classroom and is interested in attending college where he is deciding between SUNY Cortland, St. John’s University and Iona, where he plans on majoring in Sports Management and Coaching. Yu is the son of Annie and Tieng Chen and has a brother, Anthony.

GENE DECKER #10

Gene has been a member of the boy’s basketball program for six years. He is a two-year varsity player and starter at the guard position. Gene was selected captain by his teammates this season, and is a very intelligent player who leads by example and has a tremendous passion for the game of basketball. An outstanding mentor for the underclassman, Gene has developed into one of the top players in Section IX. He is one of our leading scorers and is second in assists this season. Gene has a 3.3 grade-point-average and plans on attending college – leaning towards Western Connecticut University where he would like to play either football or basketball. Gene is the son of Gene and Lisa Decker and has three siblings; James, Derek and McKenzie.

LIAM GRENNAN #00/21

Liam has been a member of the boy’s basketball program for five years. He is a two-year varsity player and the first post man off the bench for us. Liam leads by example on a daily basis and is one of the hardest workers in our program, where he has developed into a quality basketball player. Liam is one of our leading rebounders and one of our best post defensive players. He plans on attending college and is interested in SUNY Brockport, Cortland and Oswego, where he would like to continue playing basketball. He is undecided on his major at this time. Liam is the son of Patrick and Carol Grennan and has three siblings James, Class of 2013, Siobhan Class, of 2015 and Mairead

RICKY VREELAND #24

Ricky has been a member of the boy’s basketball program for five years. He is a two-year varsity player and starter at the forward position. Ricky was selected captain by his teammates this season, and was the recipient of the #24 jersey given to player who exemplifies the attributes that a Wildcat student/athlete and basketball player should exhibit: leadership, dedication, being a great teammate and a strong work ethic. He is a very intelligent player and has been an outstanding leader, especially to the underclassman on the team. One of our top rebounders and defensive players this season, Ricky has a 93 grade-point-average.  He will be attending college next year where he will major in Physical Education and Health, and has narrowed his choices of schools down to SUNY Cortland and Ithaca College. Ricky is the son of Rick and Heather Vreeland and has two siblings Brittany, Class of 2014, and Wyatt.
