Elementary, lunch goes green - with local flavor

Pine Island's Parent-Teacher Association recently unveiled a brand new salad bar - much to the delight of students who can't seem to get enough of the green offerings.

WVHS Courtyard to become an official Monarch Butterfly Waystation

In conjunction with the Warwick Valley Garden Club, Warwick Valley High School is creating a Monarch Butterfly Waystation, or habitat. Maggie Adams and Fran Sinclair along with Jason Touw's 8th period Environmental Science class have been weeding, amending the soil and will be planting generously-donated plants to transform one of the school's courtyards into a butterfly sanctuary.  Read more.

2010-11 Budget Approved - thank you for voting

In a budget development season that focused on transparency and community-inspired work, the district was able to put forward to voters a proposed budget with a very low increase in spending (0.91 percent) - a difficult task considering the significant reduction in school aid proposed by Gov. Paterson. The community responded by approving the budget on May 18, although the proposition to purchase new school buses met defeat.  Read more.

Warwick student athletes shine at Penn Relays

The WVHS 4x800 Relay Team of Charles Armand, Dan Ramirez, Dan Paez and Tim Luthin ran the fastest high school 3,200-meter relay time in the country this season (7:41.77) at the Penn Relays in April in Philadelphia, earning them first place in the "Championship of America" race.

WVHS Art Dept. making news with art shows, awards

The Warwick Valley High School Art Department has been enjoying some well-deserved good publicity lately, with the success of their first annual "Rock 'n Roll Art Show and Chair Auction," and most recently, multiple student award winners at the John Hall Congressional Art Show competition.
