Parenting workshop series to be hosted by Elementary Guidance Dept.

on October 5, 2017
Parents are invited to attend the “Discipline Is Not a Dirty Word” parenting workshop

Due to popular demand, the WVCSD Elementary Guidance Department will again host a parenting workshop series this 2017-18 school year.

The often requested workshop is entitled “Discipline Is Not a Dirty Word.”

This experiential workshop is designed to meet the needs of parents with young children, ages 2-12 years.

The goal of the program is to give parents and caregivers of young children an understanding of age-appropriate behavior and realistic expectations regarding young children.

A brief description of the program:

“Discipline is NOT a Dirty Word” Workshop

Most parents agree that getting their children to behave is both important AND difficult.

This program series will help parents and caregivers learn and practice basic principles of positive AND persuasive discipline.

You will learn:

  • what type of parenting style you have and what works best
  • why children act the way they do
  • ways to communicate so kids will listen
  • ways to set limits and what are appropriate limits
  • the importance of healthy family relationships.

Cornell Cooperative Extension will present this four-week parenting series on Thursdays, beginning on October 26.

The dates are currently set to include:
Thurs., October 26
Thurs., November 2
Thurs., November 9
Thurs., November 16

Sessions will take place from 7-9 pm in the Sanfordville Elementary School Library.

This workshop is limited to 25 families. Cornell Cooperative Extension charges a $40. fee per family, which includes any materials to be handed out.

Families will be registered on a first come, first serve basis, as registrations are received.

We encourage anyone interested to attend!
