SCHOOL MONITOR – SUMMER ENRICHMENT PROGRAM

2018-2019 School Year

$13.73 per hour

Effective July 9, 2018 there is a vacancy for a School Monitor in the Summer Enrichment Program to be held at the Warwick Valley Middle School. This temporary position will run from July 9 through July 27, 2018, 8:45 AM – 1:15 PM (4.5 hours per day), Monday through Friday.

The monitor will be responsible for supervision of students and maintaining order and discipline of all students while on school property. The monitor may also perform miscellaneous clerical tasks.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities include: general intelligence; good knowledge of school policies and procedures; good interpersonal skills with children and the general public; ability to understand and follow oral and written communications; ability to communicate effectively; ability to control adverse situations; dependability; good powers of observation; resourcefulness; tact; courtesy; good judgment; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

Qualifications:

Minimum qualification is graduation from high school. AED trained is a plus.

This is a temporary position.

Substitute School Security Aide
$16.20 per hour

The Warwick Valley Central School District is currently looking for substitute School Security Aides on an as-needed basis to fill in when necessary at the High School or Middle School.

School Security Aides are responsible for security control of a school building and the surrounding grounds.  Security Aides direct visitors to various offices and monitor student activities in areas of the campus.  Work is performed under the general supervision of the Building Principal in accordance with established policies and procedures and requires the exercise of independent judgment in response to student disturbances.  Does related work as required.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities include: good knowledge of crowd control and security measures in a school setting; ability to deal effectively with a school-age population and the general public; ability to decide on an appropriate course of action; ability to maintain order; good interpersonal and human relations skills; sound judgment to act in emergency situations; maturity; good powers of observation; mental alertness; reliability; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

Special Requirement:  Must possess at time of application (and maintain throughout employment), a current identification card reflecting registration by the State of New York, Division of Licensing Services, as a Security Guard.
