Budget development for Warwick Valley Central School District’s 2008-09 budget has begun.
In an effort to keep the budget development process open and transparent, and to gain input from the community, the Warwick Valley Central School District has worked with a volunteer Citizens' Budget Committee for the past several years. The Citizens' Budget Committee is comprised of community members who work with district officials to learn about and offer input into the budget process. The committee for the 2008-09 budget is in place, thanks to those members of the community who have volunteered. The group will meet from January through May on matters related to the development of next year's school budget.
While the Board of Education recognizes, appreciates and considers suggestions and recommendations from the Citizens' Budget Committee, it retains sole authority for budget-making decisions in the district. The Citizen’s Budget Committee, comprised of representatives from across the community, is an important part of the district's effort to provide every opportunity for parents and taxpayers to learn more about and offer input to the development of the 2008-09 school budget.
