Enter Championship Season
The Warwick Athletic Teams have entered the Championship Season. The boys and girls basketball teams have received their seeding (boys 5th and girls 3rd). Warwick’s Jesse A. was named most outstanding skier at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Championships. Spring Sports start March 8th (Varsity Only). Don’t forget the Ulta – Mania Basketball Game this Friday Night 3/5/10 (Tickets Available at the Elementary Schools or the AD Office).

Qualifies for Section 9 Tournament
The Warwick Boys Basketball Team will be make its second consecutive appearance under coach Tom Folino finishing the regular season with a 10 – 8 record and 4 – 2 in the conference. The Wildcats are seeded 5th in the tournament and will travel to Kingston on March 2 to take on the Tigers at 6 PM. The winner will travel to top seeded Newburgh on Thursday. The Wildcats have come on strong as of late winning six of their last 7 games and are peaking at the right time. The team will depend on the experience of seniors Gavin H., Rian W., Thomas F., John D., Mark W., Nick E., Chris A. and Brandon C. in the Section 9 Tournament.

Division Champions - Will Host Franklin D. Roosevelt in Tournament
The girls’ basketball team finished the regular season with an impressive 15 – 3 record and their second consecutive Division Title under Coach Jim O’Brien. The Wildcats are seeded 3rd in the tournament and will take on FDR of Hyde Park on Tues., March 2 beginning at 6 PM at Warwick High School. The teams’ success has been a result of the senior leadership provided by Catrina C., Liza G., Kaela L. and Gabriella A.

divers Compete at State Championships
Under the direction of second year Diving Coach Greg Voloshin the boys swim and dive team sent two divers to the state championships at Buffalo. Reid W. and Lars G. both competed well at the state finals held at Eerie Community College in Buffalo. They finish the season as exceptional juniors who will be back in 2011 to compete for a state championship.

Wrestlers Win Division Title – Send Three to the State Championships
The Warwick Wrestling Team earned its first division title since inception (2002) with an undefeated season in Division 1. Shane C. (112), Mitch W. (145) and Sean P. (171) represented the Wildcats at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Championships in Albany. Mitch W. won his opening two matches against Josh H. (Johnson City) and Williamsville East’s Jacob B. before losing in the semi final and finished 5th in the state. All three underclassmen will all be back next year for the Purple and Gold.

Championships at Cornell this Weekend
Boys and Girls Track are gearing toward the state meet at Cornell this weekend. Kayla L. won the pole vault at 10'6" and Lillian G. placed second in the 1000m in 2:55.33. The wining time was 2:55.24. The 4x800m team placed second in 9:44.25 but just missed qualifying. Kevin G. qualified in the 600 meter run. He will compete on the intersectional relay.

Jesse A. Wins State Championship
The boys and girls ski teams have had a terrific season and had great performances at the state championships. Jesse A. finished first in the slalom and giant slalom and was named overall boys champion. Brielle A. finished first thirteenth overall for the girls. Connor G. finished in the top 40 for the boys. Teams were coached exceptionally well by Matt C. and Elissa S. from the high school.
