mr.
longfield addresses traffic problems, asks parents to review
the following procedures:
As we are all aware, winter has
certainly set an early tone for itself. In light of this
happenstance, I wanted just to reiterate that our school
buses are the safest means of transportation for this type
of weather.
However, if you choose to drive to school, please keep in mind our
established procedures for dropping children off at school.
• Those parents who wish to provide
curb-side drop off are asked not to stop directly in front
of the main entrance unless there are cars backed up all the
way to this point from the far end of the sidewalk. When you
pull up to this area, you are asked to pull all the way down
to the end of the sidewalk to allow for others to pull in
behind you. Also be aware that just past the end of the
sidewalk are 5 minute parking spaces. This presents another
option if you wish to personally walk your children into the
school or onto the curb and sidewalk.
• For those parents who wish to escort their children
directly into the school, your best bet is to park in our
main lot. The staff is asked not to park in the first row
and to leave these spots for parent use.
• Finally, if you wish to avoid all this commotion in front
of the school, simply drive into our northern parking lot
(by the soccer field) drop your children at the sidewalk and
leave without any hassle. The students then walk down the
sidewalk and enter the school at the door where our bus
children come in. This area has a host of staff supervising
as well.
Remember, and not to sound facetious, bus transportation is
extended to every student. If every student took his/her
assigned bus, we wouldn’t have any traffic problems.
Yours truly,
Roger Longfield, Principal
