HONOR BESTOWED UPON PARK AVENUE BY U.S. SECRETARY OF EDUCATION

U.S. Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings has designated Park Avenue Elementary School a 2006 NCLB-Blue Ribbon School. The No Child Left Behind — Blue Ribbon Schools Program honors public and private K-12 schools that are either academically superior in their states or that demonstrate dramatic gains in student achievement. The program requires schools to meet specific assessment criteria.

In accordance with the criteria, Park avenue was rewarded because students scored in the top 10 percent on state assessment tests. Park Avenue's fourth grade state ELA exam scores were in the top 2% and fourth grade math scores were in the top 6% of all elementary schools in New York State during the 2004-05 school year.
