New procedures for arrival, dismissal, visitors and volunteers will begin this year at Park Avenue Elementary School.
New Procedures for Arrival and
Dismissal You Need
to Know About
New Arrival Procedures:
Sept. 3, 2011 - Student arrival begins at 8:35. Drop-offs will enter building by the Boys Side Doors. At that time homeroom teachers will be at their doorways to supervise student arrival. Parent that need to enter the building with their child should park and enter throught the front doors. Parents should remain in the front lobby
New Dismissal Procedures:
Classes will be called for dismissal.
Kindergarten will be called first, then the first floor, and
finally the third floor. Teachers will walk their classes to
the gym to drop-off walkers and pick-ups and then escort their
bus riders to each of their buses. All students entering the
blacktop MUST board the buses. Parents may not pick up
students from this area. Parents will be referred to the main
office.
Walkers and pick-ups will be escorted to the gym by their
classroom teachers. In the gym there will be three cones set
up and supervised by a teacher. Kindergartners and first
graders will sit single file behind cone one and wait to be
signed out by parents, second and third graders will be behind
the second cone and fourth and fifth graders behind the third
cone. Teachers on duty will have a clip board for parents to
sign-out their children.
Parents picking up the children will wait outside the front
entrance. The front doors will be opened once bus riders have
left the building. Parents will proceed to the gym via the
media center hallway to pick-up their
child(ren). Once signed out, parent and child should exit the
building via the boys’ side doors.
Visitors and Volunteers:
Visitors and volunteers are always welcome
at Park Avenue. Please keep in mind that visitors and
volunteers must make arrangements with the classroom teacher
24 hours in advance of their arrival. All visitors and
volunteers must enter through the front entrance, sign-in at
the front window, and receive a visitor’s badge. Please be
prepared to show identification, especially if the staff
member present does not recognize the visitor or parent.
Please wait until our personnel notifies the classroom teacher
that you have arrived.
The following are some of the areas where volunteers may be
needed:
