today's
message: stay alive, don't drink and drive
April 2, 2008 - As Warwick Valley High School students
witnessed today, the consequences of driving under the
influence are real and they are deadly. Students watched as
Warwick
police, firefighters and ambulance members demonstrated what
happens when they arrive at the scene of a drunk driving
crash. In this simulation, two of the students didn't
survive the crash, others were taken to the hospital, and
the intoxicated student driver was arrested. The driver and
passenger in the other vehicle had to be removed with the
Jaws of Life and rushed to the emergency room.
With proms and graduation just around the corner, the
enactment was important and timely. Teachers, administrators
and the Warwick community hope the message got through and
that upcoming spring events and celebrations are happy and
safe for all Warwick students and families.
