Aug., 2009 – Mrs. Annie Streiff was named as Principal of Warwick Valley High School on Aug. 1, replacing Mr. John Buckley, who retired in June. photograph of Mrs. Streiff

A graduate of New York University, Mrs. Streiff is currently working on attaining her Ph.D. in Administration and Policy from the University of Albany.

She most recently worked as an assistant principal at Clarkstown High School North and served as International Baccalaureate Program Coordinator there.

Prior to that, Mrs. Streiff was an English teacher at Suffern High School where she also taught college-level Shakespeare electives, directed and produced musical productions and coached swimming.

Before joining the educational community, Mrs. Streiff’s eclectic background included experiences as a private investigator and an opera singer.

"The school community has been very gracious and welcoming – eager to make me feel at home,” she said. “I think this is a snapshot of the Warwick community as a whole."

"With the strong leadership team at this high school and at the district level,” she says, “I am very excited to share a common vision and move WVHS and the school district forward. It is already a great school and I’m looking forward to opportunities to make it even better.”

Mrs. Streiff has extremely high expectations for students at WVHS. “Teaching today’s high school students is a big job,” she explains. “We really need to get our students ready for the 21st Century and prepare them for jobs that don’t even exist yet. I look forward to joining with teachers to help students learn how to innovate, create and imagine. My priority is to learn who these students are, what their dreams are, what they want to do – and then to help them succeed.”
