DRIVER EDUCATION REGISTRATION FOR SPRING 2012 

Registration is now closed - applications sent after this point will go on the waiting list

During the fall/winter and winter/spring semesters, Driver Education is offered by an independent driving school. The cost to each student for the Spring 2012 session will be $350.00. Students are chosen by a lottery system with seniors and juniors having priority. Sophomores are eligible if spaces are available after all seniors and juniors have been assigned their scheduled times. The deadline for applications to be returned to Mr. Russo's office was Jan. 13, 2012. ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A CHECK FOR THE $350.00 FEE.

Please note the following:

* The program is supplemental to and not a part of the regular school curriculum.
* The program is run after school and on weekends (Sat. & Sun.).
* The program does not count as credit towards a local or Regents diploma.
* The program is not offered as part of an Adult or Continuing Education Program.

Students are expected to attend all of the driving and classroom instruction on the days they are assigned.
Make-up sessions are very difficult to schedule and students who miss days are at risk of losing credit
for their certificate.

Students participating in the program will be attending sessions totaling 3 hours per week- 1 ½ hours in the classroom and 1 ½ hours in the car. These sessions will be assigned to each student by a lottery system.

Any student who wishes to participate in the program must have their Driver’s License or Learner’s Permit as issued by the Motor Vehicle Bureau and must be 16 years of age on or before Feb. 5.

Before signing up for driver education please consider realistically the number of various activities the student will be actively involved in.

Students dropping the program during the first three weeks will be refunded $285.00. After the third week there will be no refunds. If you have any questions, please call 987-3065.
