Mr. DiLeo has been the Warwick Valley High School Drama Club advisor for 14 years. For the past few years, it has been his practice to direct two productions - one in November, the other in March. There are open auditions for roles in all productions. Practices are mandatory and essential - resulting in top notch productions enjoyed by all.

The cast has been chosen and the sets are being built for the Drama Club’s 2010 revival of the Howard Ashman and Alan Menken mega-hit musical, Little Shop of Horrors, coming to the theater at Warwick Valley High School this March.

Auditions were held in early December, and the chosen cast is comprised of over 40 talented students, representing all four of the high school’s classes. In addition, the technical crew, which consists of another 20 students, has already begun building the sets that will house the monstrous Audrey II puppet plant, scheduled to arrive by truck from New Hampshire in early March.

Little Shop follows the exploits of the nerdy yet lovable Seymour Krelborn, a down-and out skid row floral assistant, who becomes an overnight sensation when he discovers an exotic plant with a mysterious craving for fresh blood. Soon "Audrey II" grows into an ill-tempered, foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore who offers him fame and fortune in exchange for feeding its growing appetite, finally revealing itself to be an alien creature poised for global domination.

The musical is being directed by Nick DiLeo, and being produced by Medie Ann Close and Donna Nestor. Musical direction is by David Crone and Barbara Welch, with choreography by Beth Maisonet. Rounding out the creative team is Anna Thomas as set designer, Al Ridella as lighting consultant, and Scott Hansen as technical director.

The club’s box office will open on Monday, February 8th, at 8 am, to take advance ticket orders. Residents may reserve tickets by calling 987-3050, accessing voice mail box #4100, and following the instructions on the recorded message. Prices are: $9 general admission, $8 senior citizens and children 10 and under.
