Sept. 9, 2014 - The Homecoming game will be played against Valley Central on Sat., Oct. 25 at 1:00 pm. Homecoming '14 will include a themed spirit week, float building at the bus garage, in-school pep rally, parade through the village of Warwick, Wildcats' football game and Homecoming Dance on Saturday night at 7:00 pm. More information will follow with specific details for upcoming events. Please join us to celebrate what Warwick, our schools and our community are all about - Homecoming is a celebration of purple and gold. Go Wildcats!

Oct., 2014 - EVERY INDIVIDUAL attending the float construction at the bus garage must turn in a permission slip by Friday, October 17, 2014 to the HIGH SCHOOL OFFICE.

Come see the HS Drama Club fall play: "The Iliad, The Odyssey, And All Other Greek Mythology In 99 Minutes or Less!"

Performances on Nov. 7 & 8 at the Theatre at WVHS

This show puts a comedic twist on all your favorite Greek tales, and best of all it only takes 99 minutes *or less*. It will be performed at WVHS under the direction of Noreen Hanson. Don't miss it! Warwick PTA sponsors Reflections arts competition for K-12

Submissions due by November 14

Each year, the Warwick Valley PTA sponsors “Reflections,” a theme-based competition for visual, musical and literary art. This year's theme is "The world would be a better place if…" Students will reflect on the theme and create original works of art in the categories of dance choreography, film production, music composition, literature, photography and visual arts. Reflections is open to all students in grades K-12, and parents don't need to be a PTA member for their child to participate. Emily Held wins best of show at Girls World Expo 2014WVHS student wins best of show at Girl's World Expo

Oct. 20, 2014 - Congratulations to WVHS student, Emily Held, who won best of show at the Girl’s World Expo, held Oct. 12 at Sport Fitness and Fun in Florida, NY. The Girls World Expo is a nationwide event for teen girls from 11-18 years of age. Students across the county showcased their achievements in the arts, while participating in workshops and listening to motivational speakers in business, government and the arts. Sign the petition for fair and equitable funding for New York schools - help end the GEA!

Oct. 1, 2014 - Please help us continue the effort to end the Gap Elimination Adjustment (GEA), which hurts New York's public schools. Be part of the action! Take a moment to sign the petition at left, (to be delivered to the Board of Regents, The New York State House, The New York State Senate, and Governor Andrew Cuomo) telling our state leaders to provide fair and equitable funding for our schools. Click the red "SIGN PETITION" button, and add your name to the growing list of Mid-Hudson area residents who want to see an end to the GEA.

Oct. 14, 2014 - Middle School art teacher Mrs. Nicole Heller and a group of High School students created pink paper ribbons for the third annual Pink Friday. After school, they hung the ribbons in the shop windows throughout town to show the support of our village for breast cancer awareness. Warwick's FFA awarded "Best of Show" at New York State Fair

Sept., 2014 - FFA students' "Birds and Bees" landscape display was awarded the blue ribbon in the educational category at this year's New York State Fair in Syracuse. More.

 

Understanding "Bring Your Own Device" (BYOD)

Sept. 26, 2014 - The Warwick Valley Central School District has supported a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program since 2011. The district continues to be committed to providing a 21st century learning environment that includes integration of technology in the classroom. A district-wide wireless network is available to students in grades 5-12 to use with their personally owned and district provided devices. Under the supervision of our teachers, YouTube has potential to enhance our students’ understanding of any and all academic subject matter. WVHS art student received an OC art award 2014WVHS art student recognized with prestigious OC award

Sept. 9, 2014 - In recognition of her talent in art, WVHS student Alexis Zarow was selected as the Orange County Arts Council's 2014 "Youth with Exceptional Promise" honoree this year. Alexis was recommended for the award by art teacher Shari Blauner, who notes, "This is very prestigious, as only one high school student in all of Orange County, who is involved in either art or music, wins this award. For Lexie, it is well deserved. She always goes above and beyond, and works hard to improve herself at every step." In the seven years the "Youth with Exceptional Promise" award has been presented, Alexis is the second WVHS student to have received it.

Aug., 2014 - The deadline for the Fall 2014 Driver Education program has been extended. Registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis until all the openings have been filled.  More information.

 

STEM scholarship for SUNY and CUNY students

May 6, 2014 - Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo has announced the launch of the New York State Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Incentive Program, which will encourage the best and brightest high school students to pursue high-demand, high-tech careers and build their future in New York. The program provides a full SUNY or CUNY tuition scholarship to the top 10% of students in every New York high school if they major in a STEM field and work in a STEM job in New York State for five years after graduation.
