Juniors and Seniors: still time to order your ring
April 10, 2014 - Attention Junior and Seniors: There is still time to order your class ring and have it before the end of the school year. Jostens will be back on Wed., April 23, during the lunch periods outside the cafeteria. A $60.00 deposit is requested to place an order. Class ring ordering packets are available in the main office.

April 10, 2014 - The track at Warwick Valley High School is set to undergo repairs, and will be closed to students and the community Mon., April 14, through Fri., April 18, 2014.
April 14, 2014 - The Warwick Valley Central School District art department will sponsor its annual gallery-hopping art show on Fri., May 2. The elementary and middle school art show will be held at the District Office from 5-6:30 p.m. Then hop up to the high school lobby for the "Rock-n-Roll Art Show and Chair Auction," beginning at 6 p.m.

Freshman Formal will be held on May 16
April, 2014 - The Freshman Formal will take place on Fri.,
May 16, 2014, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the high school
gym. Students attending should come dressed formally.
Tickets will be on sale during ALL lunch periods from May
9 through May 15. In order to purchase admission to
this formal, students must fulfill these academic
1. Student cannot be failing two or more of their classes.
2. Student must be behaviorally and academically eligible to attend.
3. Student must have all Science labs in.
Permissions slips (pdf) must be turned in at the time of purchasing admission by every individual attending the Freshman Formal. Parents/guardians should arrive at Warwick Valley High School by 10 p.m. to pick up their son or daughter the night of the Formal.

Recovery Outreach program marks eighth year of
April 8, 2014 - More than 200 WVHS students sat in on three intimate performances by Road Recovery house band, Type II, on Fri., April 5 at the school.
Songs and stories were exchanged by the young adults and the “sobriety can be a real liberating thing” theme emerged throughout the afternoon.
This event marks the eighth year of Road Recovery Outreach programs at Warwick Valley High School – possibly the longest running continuous partnership of its kind in New York State. This program was entirely sponsored by Road Recovery. The entire high school community thanks them for caring so much about the future of our students.
Advanced Placement (AP) testing information
March 18, 2014 - AP testing will take place in the month
of May. Any student taking an AP course is required to
take the corresponding AP exam. The following letter and
payment form have been distributed to all students
taking an AP class. If your student has taken AP exams
in the past, please note that there is a new payment
procedure this year, as outlined in the letter. Payment
day is Mon., April 7.

April, 2014 - The NAMM Foundation (National Association of Music Merchants), has recognized the Warwick Valley Central School District as one of the nation's top communities for support of music education.
Library Foundation college scholarship essay competition 2014
Essays are due at the library on April 19
The Albert Wisner Public Library Foundation is again offering college scholarships to be awarded in a writing competition. This year's essay topic is: “If I were a wealthy philanthropist, how I might give to benefit my community.” Authors of the three essays judged to be the best of those submitted will each receive $1,000 toward the cost of college tuition, paid directly to their college. Open to high school seniors who reside in the Warwick Valley Central School District. Essays are due no later than Sat., April 19, 2014 at 5:00 p.m., and must be brought to the library Circulation Desk (not placed in outside book return.) Click here for flyer (pdf).
National Poetry Month for Teens - AWPL holds elemental poetry contest for students ages 12-18
In recognition of National Poetry Month for Teens, the Albert Wisner Public Library is holding an Elemental Poetry Contest for students ages 12-18. Entries may be of any form of poetry, but should reflect this year's theme, "Elements," in some way. All entrants will receive a small prize for their participation. The winner will be announced in May and receive a prize bag of gifts befitting a writer, their poem published in the Library's Teen e-Newsletter and be featured in a window display at The Olde Warwick Book Shoppe on Main St. All submissions are due by April 26 at the Library's Help Desk or via email. Mar. 31, 2014 - The Science Research course at Warwick Valley High School offers highly motivated students, who have a strong interest in science, the opportunity to explore science research in a genuine scientific setting. Students are required to work with a mentor during their sophomore and junior years.
“We are reaching out to the parent community of Warwick for support. If there are scientists in our community willing to talk to our students or help them make connections to research, we would appreciate it immensely," said instructor Lisa Reece.
Research topics where mentors are needed include:
Environmental conservation with a focus on invasive species
Thermo stabilization of enzymes pertaining to Autism
Effect of music on the brain
Effect of dephytination methods on phytic acid levels in grains
Prevalence of Diabetes mellitus in patients with Liver Disease
Effect of radiation therapy on Breast Cancer patients
Neuroplasticity and benefits of exercise

Nov. 22, 2013 - For the second time in four years, Warwick Valley High School has been named to the College Board's AP District Honor Roll. WVHS is one of only 27 high schools in New York, and one of only two area high schools, to receive this designation.
