Second annual Career Exploration Fair a success!
March, 2015 - The second annual Career Exploration Fair was held at WVHS on Tues., March 24. The event was sponsored by Warwick Foundation for Excellence (WFEL), and featured more than twenty presenters from the Warwick community. The turnout was great, and students learned about careers ranging from government and law to cutting edge green technologies! Click here for photos.
Students interested in astronomy work to create Independent Study course in AP Physics
March 26, 2015 - Pictured at left are WVHS students John Kern, Jack Lillian and Robert Keane (not pictured, Andrew Warren). All four students recently spent time at the Little Bear Observatory on the grounds of Sanfordville Elementary School searching for supernovae. The students plan to use their interest in astronomy to create an Independent Study course in AP Physics.

Feb. 5, 2015 - The Warwick Valley High School Junior Prom is just around the corner. This year, the prom will be on April 17 at Anthony’s Pier 9 in New Windsor, NY from 7:00-11:00 p.m. Tickets will ONLY be sold March 24, 25, and 26 after school, in Room 129. AP Environmental science students visit local experimental research facility
March, 2015 -Jason Touw's AP Environmental Science class recently visited a local experimental research facility. Bob Schluter's Warwick Valley Products is focused on LED technology, robotic lighting, aeroponics and greenhouse disease research. See a photo gallery from the visit.
The Harlem Wizards are coming to WVHS on April 21 to benefit Project Graduation
March 25, 2015 - The Harlem Wizards will play at WVHS on Tues., April 21 in the High School New Gym. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and game time is 6:30 p.m. Student/child tickets are $10 each, and adult tickets are $13 each. March 18, 2015 - The Warwick Valley Central School District music program has been named, for the third year in a row, as one of the "Best Communities for Music Education." The NAMM Foundation has recognized 388 districts nationwide for their outstanding commitment to, and support of, music education. In its 16th year, the program singles out districts for outstanding efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students and community leaders to make music education accessible to all students. March, 2015 - Thank you to those who turned out to enjoy a fun family evening at WVHS, while helping to fight hunger in our community. The "Empty Bowls" fundraiser was sponsored by the recently formed WVHS Empty Bowls Club. Guests enjoyed a delicious meal of soups, bread, dessert & beverage, as well as student music, kids’ games & activities, silent auction & raffle baskets. "Flags Around the Classroom" project at WVHS
Feb. 17, 2015 - WVHS Social Studies teacher, Holly Marcolina, believes that all teachers want their classroom to have a welcoming atmosphere. Says Ms. Marcolina, part of creating that ambiance is to have decorations that connect to the curriculum, interest the students, and—silly as it seems—actually stay on the walls with minimal use of double-sided tape! Her solution is "Flags Around the Classroom," a project featured on the National Education Assoc. website. Click here to read the article.
AWPL Foundation scholarship competition - May 2 deadline

Feb. 1, 2015 - The Albert Wisner Public Library Foundation is again offering college scholarships to be awarded in a writing competition. Applicants will submit an essay on the following topic: “What singly important message have you taken from a teacher that will inform your entire life?” The essay is intended to reflect upon a message, idea or lesson - not upon a specific, named teacher or mentor. Authors of the three essays judged to be the best of those submitted will each receive $1,000 toward the cost of college tuition, paid directly to their college.
