"Curtains" for WVHS Drama Club
on March 7 & 8
The WVHS Drama Club, under the direction of Noreen Hanson, will present the Tony Award-winning musical whodunnit, "Curtains," by Rupert Holmes, on Fri., Mar. 7 at 7:30 p.m. and Sat., Mar. 8 at 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. This murder mystery musical comedy features a catchy, toe-tapping score performed by a live pit orchestra conducted by Chris Persad and large-scale musical productions, choreographed by Arianna Henry. Come see "Curtains" - everyone’s a star and everyone’s a suspect. Tickets are $12 general admission and $10 for students and senior citizens, and can be reserved beginning Feb. 17 at 845-987-3100 ext. 22364.
WVHS Student Senate to hold blood drive on March 5
The WVHS Student Senate is planning a blood drive for Wed., March 5 from 8:30 a.m.-2:20 p.m. in the high school's "old gym" near the lobby. Adults and students age 16 and older can donate, but 16-year-olds need a permission slip. Permission slips can be found in Mr. Burns' classroom (Room 124). Students also need to bring one form of ID to donate.
WVHS Senior Project - Autism Awareness Run/Walk - April 6
For her Senior Project, WVHS Senior Gabrielle Trimlett is organizing an Autism Awareness Run/Walk on Sun., April 6. The 5K event schedule: Run-9:00 a.m. and Walk-10:00 a.m. at Sanfordville Elementary School. The event is also a fundraiser for "Autism Speaks." Community members may register and donate online here. WVHS senior Kyle R. Roeloffs named finalist in 2014 competition for National Merit Scholarships
Feb. 20, 2014 - Warwick Valley High School senior Kyle R. Roeloffs is among the group of more than 15,000 Finalists in the 59th annual National Merit Scholarship Program.

WVHS students to help elementary students acquire early learning skills
Feb. 17, 2014 - Twenty high school students will draw upon their academic achievement to contribute to the intellectual development of younger students in our district by working on language skills such as letter naming, sight word recognition, oral reading fluency and comprehension.
Clothing donation bins at schools will help raise money for our district

Feb. 19, 2014 - The Warwick Foundation for Excellence in Learning (WFEL) is sponsoring a quick and easy way to raise funds for the district. Bring your unwanted and/or unwearable clothing, textile and shoes to any of our school buildings.

Feb. 4, 2014 - A student at Warwick Valley High School has been treated for confirmed pertussis (whooping cough). Jan. 21, 2014 - Congratulations to WVCSD students for
winning Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. Three students were
named Gold Key winners: Nick Bolanger for his drawing
"Secrets to the Grave," Bridget DeHaan for her drawing
"Self Portrait," and Shannon Higgins for her photograph
"Shattered Dreams." Two students were awarded the Silver
Key Award: Jack Kennedy for his photograph "Reflective
Dreams," and Alexis Zarow for her drawing "Boot Still
Life." Fifteen students received Honorable Mention.

New WVHS members inducted into National Honor Society
Jan. 9, 2014 - Warwick Valley High School inducted 59 new members into the Henry C. Lamoreaux Warwick Chapter of the National Honor Society. Principal Linkens notes that the National Honor Society embraces the highest standards of scholarship, service, leadership and character as the criteria for membership. Library Foundation college scholarship essay competition 2014
The Albert Wisner Public Library Foundation is again offering college scholarships to be awarded in a writing competition. This year's essay topic is: “If I were a wealthy philanthropist, how I might give to benefit my community.” Authors of the three essays judged to be the best of those submitted will each receive $1,000 toward the cost of college tuition, paid directly to their college. Open to high school seniors who reside in the Warwick Valley Central School District. Deadline is April 19. Click here for flyer (pdf).
PTSA sponsors great programs at WVHS
Dec. 2, 2013 - More info, an a cappella singing group featuring WVHS alum Allison Dethmers, recently traveled from Ithaca College to deliver workshops to our HS music students. This month, the PTSA will also help fund Rachel's Challenge, a powerful anti-bullying assembly and program. These are just a few examples of the great programs sponsored by the PTSA.
WVHS named to 4th Annual AP District Honor Roll
Nov. 22, 2013 - For the second time in four years, Warwick Valley High School has been named to the College Board's AP District Honor Roll. WVHS is one of only 27 high schools in New York, and one of only two area high schools, to receive this designation.
