Eric C. has been selected as this week's Warwick Valley
High School Student – Athlete of the Week, sponsored by
ALLSTATE Insurance Bill Garcia Agency of Warwick. The senior
football and track standout recently committed to play
football and continue his education at Iona College in New
Rochelle.
The 6’4”, 285 lb. defensive lineman was selected to the coaches' all-star team this fall (all-league class AA,) and is one of the top shot putters in the county (46’ 1” as a junior). Eric placed 3rd in the county meet in the shot put and looks to build on that mark this spring.
Eric plans to study history education and coaching while at Iona College. He was recruited by head coach Fred Mariani and is expected to have an immediate impact on the defensive line for the Gaels. Eric chose Iona over several other schools that had shown great interest in him as a potential student – athlete at their respective colleges. Eric is a very good student with a B average overall and an SAT score of 1100 (Math and Verbal) this year.
Eric is the son of Michael and Dana C. of Warwick. His brother Michael was an outstanding student – athlete at Warwick (Class of 2006). Look for Eric to finish his senior year on a high note as he hopes to help the Track and Field team to another Sectional Title.
