2011 Graduate of Warwick Valley High School, Amanda Coyne

Nov., 2011 - A Warwick Valley High School graduate from the Class of 2011, Amanda Coyne is currently a freshman at the University of South Carolina, where she is actively invloved with the newspaper, "The Daily Gamecock." The student newspaper has a readership of over 30,000.

Amanda has had more than 10 articles published since starting at the University of South Carolina this August, with her first article published on the front page her very first week at school. A Capstone Scholar at USC, Amanda is undecided on her major, but is leaning towards environmental science or political science with a minor in journalism.

WVHS Class of 2004 Graduate Develops XBOX Video Game

Sept., 2011 - Kevin Costello, a 2008 graduate of Carnegie Mellon University, has developed his first computer game, Jellyfish MD, which was officially released on the XBox Live Indie Games platform on September 2, 2011.
Jellyfish MD is a wacky puzzle game in which players perform surgery on a colorful cast of unique jellyfish characters. "Pollution has struck Jellyfish City! Take on the role of the esteemed Dr. Jellyfish's new assistant. Use your powers of perception and spatial reasoning to match up colored bubbles to cure the adorable denizens of Jellyfish City in this unique and challenging puzzle game."

WVHS Class of 1996 Grad Receives Honors from U.S. Navy and Others

August, 2011 - James D. Paffenroth, a 2000 graduate of Virginia Tech, was recently promoted to Lieutenant Commander. He was awarded his second career Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal, as well as the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal. He was also honored by the city of Meridian, Miss., which proclaimed June 3, 2011 as "Lieutenant James D. Paffenroth Day," for coordinating a large renovation project at the Meridian Naval Air Station.

WVHS Class of 2011 Grads Entering the Military

June, 2011 - Several members of the Class of 2011 graduating class will be entering the military, and were recognized at the Commencement Exercises. “These students have made the decision to serve their country, and I think it speaks to their character and their commitment,” said Warwick Superintendent Dr. Ray Bryant. WVHS Class of 2008 Alum Hired as Helicopter Flight Instructor in Hawaii

2010 - Warwick resident Matthew Schenk, an undergraduate at Embry Riddle Aerounautical University, has been hired as a flight instructor at Mauna Laua Helicopters in Honolulu. Click here to read more.
