nothing is fried.

The Food Services Program keeps a close eye on meal counts and student feedback to determine what the students want to eat. Students have a good variety to choose from. One of our most popular lunches is Taco/Nachos. Ground turkey is used in the tacos instead of beef, the nachos are whole grain, and the cheese is reduced-fat cheddar!

Breakfast is only $1 for all students in grades K-12. For Elementary School students, lunch costs $1.75. Middle and High School students may purchase lunch for $2.00. Lunch tickets can be bought in advance and cost $35 for elementary students, $40 for middle school students, and $40 for high school students. Each lunch ticket is good for 20 meals.

Lunch tickets can be purchased with cash or check made payable to WVCSD Food Services. This can be sent in to the child's teacher in an envelope marked "Food Services Department." Children who do not have a lunch ticket may pay for their meal with cash in the cafeteria.

square bulletIs eating a good breakfast really important?

A hungry child cannot learn. Our breakfast program offers all children a critical jump start at the beginning of their school day. Children who aren’t hungry feel better, learn better, and behave better. Studies have found that students who eat breakfast have a general increase in math grades and reading scores, increased student attention, reduced nurse visits, and improved student behaviors.

square bulletshould I worry about my child’s eating habits?

There is no better time than the early years to make an impact on the lifelong eating and exercise habits that can contribute to health maintenance and disease prevention. Medical authorities and nutrition researchers have documented that meeting nutritional requirements throughout childhood is essential to full intellectual development. There is compelling evidence that nutrition impacts a child's behavior, school performance, and overall cognitive development.
